Job DescriptionApplicant SearchesJob DescriptionJob Objective:Under the direction of the Medical Director of the OB Clinic and the Director of Women and Children's Outpatient Services, the Nurse Practitioner initiates and manages the medical treatment, obstetric and contraceptive care, and gynecological treatment of patients seeking said care according to Nurse Practitioner protocols as contained in the OB/GYN Clinic Manual. The Nurse Practitioner exemplifies expert clinical skills, possesses effective planning skills, and acts in supervisory role, and ensures appropriate delivery of patient care according to established standards. Works closely with and keeps management abreast of pertinent information regarding the department.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Client Care: Provides primary health care to women across the life span, with an emphasis on reproductive and gynecological health Uses the processes of assessment, diagnosis, management, and evaluation to provide care that integrates the psychosocial and physical needs of women Supervises the daily workflow of the clinic, to include, coordinating patient care activities, and staff breaks. lunches, coverage, and other supervisory duties as assigned. Demonstrates critical thinking and diagnostic skills in clinical decision making Obtains a comprehensive health history and psychosocial data base Assesses patients evidence of domestic violence or sexual abuse Performs a comprehensive physical assessment Recognizes emergency situations and initiates emergency care Orders, performs. and interprets screening and diagnostic procedures and tests Develops and analyzes differential diagnoses based on clinical and laboratory data Recommends diagnostic and therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness Furnishes medications as regulated by California Nurse Practice Act, and educates the client about the drug regimens, interactions, and side effects Incorporates non-pharmacological therapies as appropriate Evaluates results of interventions using accepted outcome criteria, revises the plan as needed, and consults with the physician as needed Provides health promotion and disease prevention while cognizant of age, developmental status, disability, culture. ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. Provides clinical management, including therapeutic procedures for women with selected gynecological problems Manages treatment of sexually transmitted infections for patients, with recommendations regarding partner treatment Provides comprehensive family planning care Provides prenatal and postpartum care. including attention to maternal/fetal health and parent/infant relationships Identifies high risk pregnancies and collaborates with physicians and other health care providers for management or referral Provides referral for non-reproductive health problems Provides input for case management Collaborates with other health care providers to achieve optimal outcomes Applies and/or participates in research, when able. to promote evidence-based practice and to facilitate effective care Records data accurately Administration of injections Removal of sutures/staples and application of dressingsNurse/Patient Relationship Health Education and CounselingProfessional Role Managing Health Care Delivery: Quality of Care: Leadership:Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Skills and Abilities:,lob DescriptionLicensure.
