Job Description Job Description Job Objective: Under the direction of Director, the Systems Administrator is responsible for data communications, computer and server repair. Provides support to Antelope Valley Healthcare District (AVH) customers by serving as technical support in equipment forecasting, evaluation, installation, problem determination, resolution, and repair. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides in-depth problem analysis and resolution for all AVH supported data telecommunications, networks and computer systems. Designs and analyzes issue resolution, bypass, and recovery procedures Acts as a technical liaison to applications, systems programmers and computer operations for network related areas Acts as a technical partner between AVH customers and vendors to troubleshoot and repair equipment and review vendor products and services Presents to management cost effective recommendations for improving the current computing systems and teleprocessing networks Provides and maintains all required documentation to support terminal installations and data circuits Responsible for the planning, installation, implementation, upgrade, problem determination and resolution of a variety of servers to be used within AVH Participates in user groups for the assimilation of information on new products, procedures, training, and policies Diagnoses and repairs specific problems relating to terminal and personal computer operations and telecommunications to the component level. Creates reports, diagrams, and charts as required for Information Technology Solutions Group (ITSG) procedures, training, and documentation Evaluates and interprets statistical data reports as generated within ITSG and management Assist in cloud migration activities Assist in evaluating alternative IT infrastructure options Non-Essential Duties: Prepares weekly productivity report which summarizes activities, issues and solutions with recommendations for overall system improvement Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge HP/ IBM SANS, manage file servers, group policy, SCCM, AD, Right Fax, Lync, Exchange, Domain Controllers In-depth knowledge of Operating Systems, microcode upgrades and specialty appliances (eg Citrix, Storage, Network) is required Knowledge of hardware/ Operating Systems implementation and maintenance/ support is required Knowledge of Project life cycle management is required Skills Demonstrate logical problem solving and issue resolution while considering end users’ needs Demonstrate process workflow skills and how to document redesign Abilities Ability to support projects at various levels within the enterprise Ability to analyze and troubleshoot at the hardware, Operating Systems and Firmware level and articulate outcomes Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with internal and external customers Ability to document and create diagrams of current infrastructure is required Core Competencies: All AVH employees will effectively demonstrate these behaviors: Accountability Action Oriented Customer Focused Compassion Effective Communication Teamwork Ethics & Values Integrity & Trust Education and Experience: Education High School Diploma A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education is required Experience Five or more years experience in a broad range of communications equipment, system software diagnostic aids, server repair (eg IBM, Dell, etc.) to the component level and troubleshooting server skills is required Required Licensure and/or Certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator required Cisco Certified Network Associate required Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer preferred Cisco Certified Network Professional preferred AVH Conduct/Compliance Expectations : Ability to adhere with AVH Leaves of Absence Policy Ability to adhere with AVH Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy Ability to adhere with AVH Recording of Hours Worked Policy Ability to adhere to the department dress code Ability to organize work and establish priorities Ability to expand on own initiative in performance of duties Skill and ability to follow the telephone etiquette/standards Conforms to AVH Standards of Excellence Ability to function effectively under pressure and meet time parameters Ability to communicate effectively while maintaining good working relationships with co-workers, managers and other hospital staff Ability to adhere to the normal standards of courtesy and conduct as defined under the rules of hospitality at AVH Ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient, hospital and department information Ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations Safely and effectively uses all equipment necessary to carry out duties Ability to interpret and function under hospital and department policies and procedures Conforms with required and appropriate JCAHO requirements Conforms with and supports hospital quality assurance and improvement guidelines Ability to participate effectively in department and hospital staff education Display a willingness to work as a team player Ability to give and support the highest level of patient/customer satisfaction at all times Supports and adheres to the values and mission statement established by the AVH Board of Directors Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Compliance & Integrity Program and its requirements; complies with duty to report behavior standard; demonstrates understanding of purpose for a Compliance hotline and the importance of seeking guidance from a supervisor or the Compliance Officer when in doubt regarding a possible compliance issue Ability to follow the Code of Business Conduct (Standards of Business Ethics and Integrity) Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: (Please reference key physical and working conditions) Work is performed in a fast paced office environment Work requires frequent visits to conference/ office locations within the hospital and at outlying departments and facilities Must be able to use standard office equipment, sit, and walk to meetings Able to lift/carry up to 10 pounds A detailed description of the physical requirements of this job is maintained in the Employee Health Department.
